Educating in the 21st Century

In 2014, Lynchburg City Schools began a new and exciting journey—one that has supported the LCS mission of, “Every Child, By Name and By Need, to Graduation.” We set a course for meeting the 21st Century needs of our students through our LCS-ONE initiative, which has provided a personal computing device (laptops) for students in grades 6 through 12. During the 2020-21 school year, to support the remote learning model in the division's Return to Learn plan, LCS issued devices to students in grades 3-5. We are excited to provide Chromebooks to all LCS students in grades 2-12 as we return to full-time, in-person learning for the 2021-22 school year.

Chromebook Insurance

Families are responsible for the cost of the repairs or to replace the device. Families can purchase device insurance to help reduce these potential costs for $20. Insurance may be purchased through MySchoolBucks or by dropping off a check to the school office.

GoGuardian Parent Portal

Lynchburg City Schools is providing parents with an account for the GoGuardian Parent Portal. GoGuardian Parent is an application available on Apple devices and Android phones designed to provide parents/guardians with the ability to pause their children's internet, block specific websites, and schedule internet availability on the school provided Chromebooks and Chrome tablets.  Click here for more details about the GoGuardian Parent Portal.
