T.4 - Inverse Trigonometric Functions

T.4    The student will graph the six inverse trigonometric functions.

Adopted: 2016

BIG IDEAS

UNDERSTANDING THE STANDARD

2016 VDOE Curriculum Framework - T.4 Understanding

·  Trigonometric functions are not invertible, because they are periodic.  Domain restrictions on trigonometric functions are necessary in order to determine the inverse trigonometric function.

ESSENTIALS

The student will use problem solving, mathematical communication, mathematical reasoning, connections, and representations to

·  T.41  Determine the domain and range of the inverse trigonometric functions.

·  T.42  Use the restrictions on the domains of the inverse trigonometric functions in determining the values of the inverse trigonometric functions.

·  T.43  Graph inverse trigonometric functions.
