UNDERSTANDING THE STANDARD

Between about 1500 A.D. (C.E.) and about 1800 A.D. (C.E), African societies maintained empires throughout West Africa, East Africa, and South Africa.

Major geographic features of Africa helped to shape these empires and included land and water features.
