PH.6 a - Kinetic and Potential Energy
The student will investigate and understand that quantities including mass, energy, momentum, and charge are conserved. Key concepts include
a) kinetic and potential energy.
Bloom's Levels: Analyze; Understand
- I can predict how fast a roller coaster will travel down a hill.
UNDERSTANDING THE STANDARD
The concepts developed in this standard include the following:
- Kinetic energy is the energy of
motion. Potential energy is the energy due to an object’s position or state.
- Total energy and momentum are conserved.
In order to meet this standard, it is expected that students will
a) provide and explain examples of how energy can be converted from potential energy to kinetic energy and the reverse.
